is an ancient seaside town located 35 km south of Burgas on the southern Bulgarian Black Sea Coast. The city is divided into Old and New Town, among which is the Sea Garden. The Old town is located on the small peninsula Skamniy, bordered between the bay of Sozopol and the bay of Korena. In the aquatory of the bay are the island of Saint John and the nearby island of St. Peter.
The climate in Sozopol and the region is moderately continental, winters are relatively warm, but windy (average January temperature is + 6 °C), summer is long and hot (average July temperature is + 27 °C).
